Today I explained the Nakhla program for widows and orphans to His Excellency, Amir Khan Mutaqqi, the Foreign Minister of Afghanistan. More than just monthly stipends, Nakhla focuses on being with the children until they graduate, are married, and settled in life. As we award them scholarships in eminent international institutions, the assistance of the Foreign Ministry will be important.
Taking keen interest, he assured me of all possible help. It is an interesting coincidence that the first area selected for the Nakhla program (Zurmat district, Paktia Province) is the ancestral home of His Excellency.
