Many long years ago, when I was running a medical ward in Kandahar as part of my relief work for Afghanistan, I came across a simple yet amazing man. When I look back at that memorable meeting, the following verse comes to mind:
انہیں کہتی ہے جھک کر اب بلندی
تیری پستی میں گہرائی بہت ہے
Bends the loftiness now and says to them
There is great depth in your lowliness
